Laoag vice mayor killed in accident: police

Laoag City Vice Mayor Michael Farinas was killed in a vehicular accident Wednesday, police said.
Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Ilocos region police director, said Farinas was driving a Mercedes Benz along a bypass road in Barangay 55-C Vira around 5:45 p.m. when his vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier.
Farinas was pronounced dead on arrival at the Gov. Roque Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital. His companion, Senior Police Officer 2 Melchor Geronimo, was injured.
Sapitula, in a text message, said Geronimo's condition is still being observed by doctors. DMS
