Lawyer who filed impeachment against Sereno seeks Senate seat
October 12, 2018
The lawyer who filed an impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for senator Friday afternoon, but used the wrong form.
The Commission on Elections ( Comelec) Secretariat said Larry Gadon asked the Commission on Elections ( Comelec) if he is using an old form. The Comelec said yes and it took him an hour to accomplish it.
But in his speech, Gadon denied using a wrong COC. “I asked the Comelec if it is the wrong form before I filled it up. It was not accomplished yet,” said Gadon.
Gadon, who is known for using strong words against some members of the Senate when he filed the impeachment against Sereno at the House of Representatives, said in a TV interview he does not see it as a problem.
Before filing his COC, Gadon expressed confidence he would win.
"Filipinos will vote for me because I am not a fool and they will vote for me because they are fools," said Gadon.
Gadon's impeachment complaint did not prosper as Sereno was ousted due to a quo warrantuo petition by Solicitor General Jose Calida Jr before the Supreme Court. DMS
