LFTRB raises basic jeep fare to P10: source
October 17, 2018
Jeepney commuters in the National Capitol Region, central Luzon and Calabarzon will have to pay P10 for the first four kilometers starting in November, according to a decision by the Land Transportation and Regulatory Board (LFTRB) obtained by reporters on Wednesday.
Jeepney operators petitioned for a one peso fare hike in July and even sought a two peso hike, citing weekly increases in diesel. But the LFTRB ruled on the July petition.
The decision was signed by LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III and board member Ronaldo Corpus. Aileen Lizada, the other board member, dissented but she has not given a copy of her dissent.
But LTFRB sources said the fare hike decision remains unofficial as it has yet to be signed by the board's executive director.
A statement from Delgra's office warned drivers from charging higher fare as an official copy has yet to be released.
“We request drivers to wait until the LTFRB releases the official document on the fare hike before charging additional fare,”the statement said. DMS
