LFTRB ready for jeepney strike vs modernization program

The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board ( LTFRB) said Wednesday they are ready for the transport strike of PISTON (Pinagkaisahang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwidec on Monday but they will decrease the number of buses to be deployed.
"For PISTON on Monday government will be ready, JQRT (Joint Quick Response Team) will be activated by 4:00 am", LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada said.
"We will only have a minimum number of buses, 20 buses deployed to six areas", she added. Lizada did not say what are these areas.
Lizada said the buses that will give free rides to affected passengers by the transport strike will be reduced from 70 to 20.
PISTON, No to Jeepney Phase out coalition and Kilusang Mayo Uno will staged a two day transport strike on October 16 to 17 against the jeepney modernization program of the government, PISTON said in a Facebook post.
