Love triangle? Cop kills fellow officer inside Taguig City headquarters

November 18, 2018

A police officer was shot dead allegedly by his fellow officer inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig last Saturday.

Regional Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of National Capital Region Police Office, identified the victim as Police Officer 1 Mark Carlo Pasamba who was allegedly in a relationship with the wife of suspect PO1 Carlos Alberto Aljama.

Aljama was assigned at Administration Holding Unit of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion while the victim and the suspect's wife were assigned to the 4th Mobile Force Company of RMFB.

Eleazar said the incident transpired around 8:35 am along 2nd Street inside the headquarters.

He said that "love triangle" could be the motive of the incident.

He said when Aljama saw Pasamba, he immediately shot the victim who suffered three gunshot wounds at his upper torso.

"The suspect and the victim had a misunderstanding because of love triangle. The suspect's wife had an intimate relationship with (Pasamba) and this became the root (of the crime)," he told reporters.

Pasamba was rushed to a hospital but died while being treated.

Aljama, who was arrested after the incident, is now under the custody of Taguig City Police Station. He could face murder case and could also be administratively charged for grave misconduct.

Eleazar reminded all the policemen to respect and be proper in dealing with other people, especially with their co-officers.

He told them to inform their unit commanders if they have problems, either personal or official, to prevent this kind of incident from happening.

"Our commanders are ready to listen and it can help in preventing this kind of unfortunate event," he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
