Low pressure area develops into Tropical Depression ”Butchoy”

A low pressure area east of Quezon Province developed into Tropical Depression "Butchoy", the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday.

Pagasa raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No.1 was raised over a wide area in Luzon, including Metro Manila.

At 4 pm, the center of "Butchoy" was estimated based on all available data at 75 km northwest of Daet, Camarines Norte.

''Butchoy'', moving west northwest at 20 km/h, has maximum winds of 45 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 55 km/h.

''Butchoy'' is forecast to cross Polillo Islands and make landfall over northern Quezon-southern Aurora area between Thursday night and Friday morning.

On Friday afternoon, ''Butchoy'' is forecast at 110 km west of Dagupan City.

Other areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.1 were Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, the southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan, San Luis), Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, the northern and central portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Panukulan, Burdeos, Polillo, Patnanungan, Jomalig), Mauban, Sampaloc, Lucban, San Antonio, Tiaong, Dolores, Candelaria, Sariaya, Tayabas City, Lucena City, Pagbilao, Atimonan, Padre Burgos, Agdangan, Unisan, Plaridel, Gumaca, Pitogo, Macalelon, Lopez, Guinayangan, Tagkawayan, Calauag, Quezon, Alabat, Perez), and Camarines Norte.
