LTFRB announces bus and jeep fare hikes
October 18, 2018
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ( LTFRB) said it has granted provisional approval of bus fares by one peso on Thursday.
This, as LFTRB allowed jeepney operators to raise base fare by one peso to P10 for the first four kilometers.
LFTRB chairman Martin Delgra III told dzBB radio that the fare hikes will take effect 15 days after it is published in a newspaper of general circulation.
"In the meantime also within the 15 day period, we will give copies to parties concerned along with the petitioners and the oppositors," said Delgra.
"Hopefully barring any motion for reconsideration or any legal measure, it will become effective 15 days thereafter," said Delgra,
Delgra said the LFTRB's technical division has been ordered to prepare the fare matrix.
He said the LFTRB will remind drivers not to implement the fare hikes even before the 15-day period is met.
Since it is a provisional increase, Delgra said the fare hikes can be reviewed. DMS
