LTFRB increases cap for Grab, Uber cars
February 12, 2018
The Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB) Monday increased the number of transport network vehicle services (TNVC) than can ply their routes in Metro Manila.
From the cap of 45,000, the LFTRB released a memorandum circular setting the number of TNVS to 65,000 in Metro Manila. In Metro Cebu, there will be 1,500 units allowed to operate from the earlier 500 and 250 are allocated for Pampanga from 200.
The LTRFB circular will be published on Tuesday and will take effect on Feb. 28.
In an audit commissioned by the LFTRB last week, it was found out there were 59,020 accredited to either Grab or Uber in July 2017. The memorandum circular means the ride-hailing networks Grab and Uber share the 65,000 equally.
The 65,000 cap will be reviewed quarterly. DMS
