The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordered  transport network company (TNC) U-Hop to "cease and desist" activation of new vehicles.

"Please be advised that LTFRB has not lifted the suspension on the acceptance or activation of TNVS applications issued on July 11, 2017, pending te final resolution on the Technical Working Group (TWG) on TNCs", LTFRB said  in a viber message sent by board member Aileen Lizada on Monday

"LTFRB hereby directs U-Hop to stop the activation of its TNVS applicants and the consequent use of the LTFRB logo on ots Certificates of Accreditation without the latter's permission", it added.

In a viber message, Lizada showed two photos of a certificate of accreditation from U-Hop using the logo of the LTFRB approved by U-Hop chairman Marvin Dela Cruz  on Octber 6.

U-hop said in its official statement that they have not activated TNVS apart from the 5,000 initial list they have submitted to LTFRB.

"We would like to clarify that we have not activated anyonewho are not part of the 5,000 initial list and allocation we submitted to LTFRB", it said.

"Out of the 5,000 we only activated less than 300 and 56 in Cebu due to the clamor of the public for affordable rides", it added.

U-Hop said they got a "verbal approval' from the board during the TNC TWG meeting with LTFRB allowing the 5,000 units to operate. Alanna Ambi/DMS
