LTFRB releases 30-day preventive suspension vs bus firm involved in La Union accident

December 26, 2017

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Tuesday released a 30-day preventive suspension order against Partas bus company after one of its units was involved in a road accident with a jeepney in Agoo, La Union last Monday where 20 people, including a baby died.

The LTFRB will serve  a copy of the  suspension order on Partas, which covers one franchise with seven units, Wednesday.

LTFRB board member and spokesperson Aileen Lizada said they grounded the bus company's operation covering the Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte to Sampaloc, Manila route after Partas management failed to submit the dashcam card and GPS data of its unit involved in the accident.

“The violation of Partas.... is for the failure of Partas to comply with the directive of the board considering that 36 hours have passed since the road crash,” Lizada said in a voice message posted on Viber.

Lizada said a representative from Partas told her it has not yet recovered the dashcam.

The LTFRB gave Partas until 12 noon to submit the data but the bus firm gave a footage of a closed-circuit television camera of the unit.

“That will not help us resolve the road crash,” Lizada said, saying dashcam footage would show which vehicle had the last chance to avoid the collision. DMS
