LTFRB watching 8 routes as extra vehicles fielded to cope with jeep strike

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Thursday they are monitoring eight routes that might be affected by a two day transport strike of PISTON ( Pinagkaisahang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide).
LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada said in a Viber message, they are monitoring the following routes: Brgy Ususan and Lambingan bridge Sta. Ana, Manila; Commonwealth, Litex and Monumento; Malabon to Monumento; Sucat Baclaran; Taguig to Pasig ; Marcos Highway; EDSA northbound heritage; and Ayala.
Lizada said LTFRB gave special permits to 22 buses and 20 UV Express to serve as shuttle service.
She said the traffic situation is good but the effect of the transport strike and the protests may be felt later.
"So far so good, this will be later, when its over", Lizada said.
The Metro Manila Development Authority said in a phone interview with the Daily Manila Shimbun, the routes in US Embassy from Roxas Boulevard, Katigbak drive to Pedro Gil Malate will be affected by the protests.
The Chino Roces bridge and Claro M. Recto in Mendiola Freedom Arc and roads in Plaza Miranda along Quezon Boulevard will be affected since protests will be staged in those areas, MMDA personnel said.
Espana boulevard from Welcome Rotonda to UST and Quiapo, Manila will also be affected, she said.
