Man accused of kidnapping, killings in Zamboanga Sibugay dies resisting arrest

One of Zamboanga Sibugay's most wanted persons died as he resisted arrest while military and police forces were serving an arrest warrant  on Thursday.

Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Western Mindanao Command chief, said  troops from the 44th Infantry Battalion with the Philippine National Police's Anti-Kidnapping Group, Special Action Force, Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9, Ipil Municipal Police Station served the arrest warrant against Ibrahim Anduhol, alias Tongtong at the vicinity of  Upper Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay around 2:35 am.

He said the arrest warrant for murder against Anduhol was issued by Judge Anthony Isaw of the Regional Trial Court 9, Branch 24.

Recovered from the encounter site were a M653 rifle, two caliber .45 pistols with inserted magazines, two empty shells of caliber .45mm cartridge.

Lt. Col. Don Templonuevo, commanding officer of the 44th IB said Anduhol was an active member of the Barahama Ali Group operating in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Anduhol was involved in the murder of the late Staff Sergeant Juan Ablao, Jr. on May 2, 2015; kidnapping of Ms. Kathy Grace Cunting Sarabia in San Jose, Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay on June 17, 2015; kidnapping of Alejandro Bation in Nazareth, Kabasalan on July 15, 2018; and murder of Patrolman Arthur Decena in Ipil on December 6, 2020, said Templonuevo.

Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, Joint Task Force ZamPeLan commander said that the military will continue to support the law enforcement operations of other security agencies.  Robina Asido/DMS
