Man drowns as boat capsizes off Cardona, Rizal

One person drowned after a boat capsized off the waters of Cardona, Rizal on Sunday night.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG said its personnel from the Cardona Sub-Station and local fishermen, retrieved the body of a 29-year-old male around 3pm of Monday.
The victim, which has not been identified, is a resident of Barangay Mal-Cal, Talim Island in Cardona.
Based on initial investigation. the victim was under the influence of liquor when the boat capsized at vicinity waters off Barangay Boor at around 9pm on September 27.
The victim's body was safely turned over to his relatives.
The PCG urged the general public to fulfill their share of responsibility in upholding maritime safety.
"Law enforcement agencies can only accomplish their part in implementing maritime safety measures. Hence, the general public is reminded and highly encouraged to comply with safety protocols when boarding any kind of watercraft for their personal safety at all times," it stated. Robina Asido/DMS
