Authorities have captured 11 detainees who escaped from a detention facility in Bacoor City, Cavite last Friday.
“Last night, we were able to recover two more, that’s why we already recaptured 11 (inmates),” Bacoor Police Chief Supt. Vicente Cabatingan said in a radio interview Sunday.
Cabatingan said a manhunt is still ongoing for the 12 more inmates who remained at large. He said some of the escapees expressed their willingness to surrender.
He said that the recaptured inmates were found in their homes, while others were caught by the help of the local authorities.
“Some (inmates), were caught inside their homes since they haven’t left yet while the others were found with the help of the people in Bacoor and nearby cities and municipalities here in Cavite City,” he said.
As of press time, visitors were not allowed to enter the facility.
“They (visitors) are just outside, the inmates are not allowed to go out and we just give them the foods brought by their families,” he said.
Last July 27, a total of 23 inmates who are facing different charges escaped from the Custodial Center in Barangay Talaba 4, Bocoor City, Cavite around 4:30pm.
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, public information chief of Police Regional Office 4-A, confirmed that five police personnel and one non-uniformed personnel were relieved from their post following the jailbreak incident. Ella Dionisio/DMS
