The Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO) on Thursday arrested a patrolman assigned in Manila after he was caught ferrying seven Unauthorized Persons Outside Residence (UPOR) to Tayabas City, Quezon.

Police Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon provincial director, said the suspect was Patrolman Nerio Jojo Penaflorida Bravo Jr who is assigned at District Mobile Force Battalion at the US Embassy in Manila.

Madrideo said Tayabas City Police Station were conducting mobile patrol around 12:15 pm when they received information from a concerned citizen about a black Mitsubishi X-Pander without attached plate number transporting and alighting passengers who are UPOR at Barangay Ibabang Ilasan, Tayabas City.

Authorities immediately responded which resulted in the arrest of the cop and his seven passengers.

Madrideo said Bravo contacted his passengers through Facebook Messenger. He then picked them up from Taytay, Rizal to Tayabas City, Quezon for ₱2,500 each.

“Bravo used his authority as police officer by wearing uniform to get through all the Quarantine Control Points regardless of the existing guidelines set by Inter-Agency Tasks Force on the Enhanced Community Quarantine for Luzon,” he said.

The suspects are detained in Tayabas City Police Station custodial facility and will face criminal complaint for violation of resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or the agents of such person, mandatory reporting of notifiable diseases and health events of Public Health Concern Act, Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, Land Transportation and Traffic Rules Act and curfew.
