May 14 declared as special holiday for Filipinos to vote for village, SK polls

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared May 14 as a special non-working day throughout the country.
Proclamation No. 479, which Duterte signed on May 2, provides that May 14, which falls on a Monday, is non-working day "enable the people to fully exercise their right of suffrage."
May 14 will be the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Registered voters will be voting for one punong barangay and seven sangguniang barangay members, while youth voters will elect one SK chairperson and seven SK members. Those aged 18 to 30 years old will vote both in the barangay and SK elections.
There are 671,168 positions up for grabs in the manual polls, of which 335,584 are for the barangays and 335,584 are for the Sangguniang Kabataan. Celerina Monte/DMS
