April 11, 2018
For the first time, President Rodrigo Duterte brought with him in his foreign trips his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who acted as his official "First Lady" in his activities in China.
From his arrival in Hainan to his attendance to Boao Forum for Asia and other meetings at the sidelines of the forum, Duterte-Carpio followed protocol.
Duterte-Carpio, along with her father, posed for a photo with other leaders participating countries in the annual conference as well as with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
She was also in the audience when Duterte delivered his remarks at the opening of the BFA.
The presidential daughter also accompanied her father in witnessing the signing ceremony of several business letters of intent between the Philippine government and Chinese companies.
Duterte-Carpio brought her second child, Stingray, to China as seen in some of the photos released by Malacanang.
In his previous foreign trips and other activities, Duterte allowed his partner Cielito "Honeylet" Avancena to do the official function of a First Lady.
