Metro Manila, 9 other areas under GCQ from Jan. 1 to 31 – Duterte
December 29, 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte said on Monday that Metro Manila and nine other areas in the country will be under the general community quarantine for the whole month of January next year due to high cases of coronavirus disease.
In a televised message, Duterte said aside from the National Capital Region, other areas to be under GCQ from January 1 to 31 are Isabela, Santiago City, Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City, Davao City, and Davao del Norte.
He said the rest of the country will be under modified general community quarantine.
Duterte said the quaratine classifications are "subject to LGU (local government unit) appeals."
With the new strain of COVID-19 cases in other countries, he advised the public not to go out if not necessary and to always wash one’s hands.
"Stay home if it's really possible. It’s for your own good," he said. Celerina Monte/DMS
