Metro Manila mayors want the metropolis to remain under general community quarantine for December.
Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, in a text message to the Daily Manila Shimbun Monday said the 17 mayors ''unanimously agreed'' to this measure in Sunday's meeting with the InterAgency Task Force (IATF).
Olivarez said minors aged 15 years old and below will be allowed to leave their homes if their accompanied by older persons.
This came as President Rodrigo Duterte will meet IATF members virtually Monday afternoon to announce quarantine status of regions and provinces.
Guido David, head of Octa Research, said Metro Manila cases rose to an average of 400 a daily last week from 350 the previous week. ''We are studying why these cases went up,'' David told dzBB.
In a separate interview, Manila Mayor Francisco ''Isko Moreno'' Domagoso urged shoppers to refrain from shopping for bargain Christmas gifts in areas like Divisoria if they do not wear face shield, face mask and exercise distancing.
''The money that you saved will go to health concerns if you are not careful,'' said Domagoso in a radio interview during Bonifacio Day rites. DMS
