Military doesn’t see any destabilization vs Duterte
October 6, 2017
Despite an alleged conspiracy of some supporters of the previous administration and the left to remove President Rodrigo Duterte from office, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said the military has not monitored any destabilization plot.
“We will be conferring with other government agencies but in so far as the AFP is concerned, we have not monitored any such destabilization plans,” said Col. Edgard Arevalo, AFP Public Affairs Chief, Thursday.
Arevalo emphasized that the military “will not allow any attempts that would tend to undermine the stability of our government.”
“We will frustrate any efforts that will cause the disruption of our democratic way of life. That is and shall always be our commitment to the nation and our people,” he said.
It can be recalled that Duterte accused the “yellow” which refers to some supporters of the previous administration and “reds” or the Communist Party of the Philippines for conspiring to remove him from office.
In a statement, the CPP belied the allegation of the president saying the “left political forces may have no formal alliance with the Liberal Party and its affiliates but can recognize their initiatives and action as serving the same purpose of resisting Duterte's tyranny.”
“It appears that such claims aim to set the stage to clampdown on the political opposition and all other forces standing up against moves to establishing Duterte’s authoritarian rule,” the CPP noted. Robina Asido/DMS
