The military and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) recovered two improvised explosive devices in a clearing operation in Maguindanao on Monday.
Maj. Arvin Encinas, spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command, said the joint forces recovered two explosives and several components at the vicinity of sitios Dungguan and Dama Kayo in Barangay Kalumamis, Guindulungan around 4am.
Encinas said government troops subsequently coordinated with the Explosive Ordnance Battalion for proper identification, evaluation, and disposal of the recovered explosives.
"Soldiers of the 7th Infantry Battalion brought the improvised explosives to the battalion's tactical command post at 11:40am (of the same day)," he said.
Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, WesMinCom commander, said the clearing operation was made to ensure the security in the midst of the community quarantine in Mindanao.
"Security forces guard against hostile groups who may threaten and take advantage of the situation to disrupt the security in the area," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
