The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is monitoring a possible clan war following the death of four Army intelligence officers in the hands of policemen in Jolo last week.
Lt. Gen. Carlito Sobejana, AFP Western Mindanao Command chief, said: ''The culture here in Bangsamoro Region, what we call as rido is family against family. So that is what were are closely monitoring here.''
"We are already coordinating with our partners here like the religious leaders, the traditional leaders and the local government, that hopefully we will be calm because we will ensure that justice is being serve," he added.
Sobejana said the tension caused by the incident has already eased.
"No more tension, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited us and his guidance is very clear. He is calling for sobriety because the investigation is already there and in due time the result will be released so that will dictate our subsequent action," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
