Misamis attacker has no link with terror groups: PNP

The Philippine National Police on Friday said the recent grenade attack in Misamis Oriental as it will not have effect on the on-going Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
In a press briefing, Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson said the suspect in the grenade blast in Intao, Misamis Oriental has no link to any terror groups.
“It was found out that he only has personal grudge against a Department of Environment and Natural Resources officer in the province,” Banac said.
Banac said the PNP is ready for any possible terror attacks.
“We assure the public this will not happen in the venues of SEA Games as we have very strict and tight security measures being implemented there,” he said.
“Our policemen are very serious in our security so that no untoward incident will happen,” he said.
Banac reminded the public that anyone who will be caught trying to sneak in prohibited items will be arrested.
PNP said they are all set put their best foot forward and aim to deliver an effective security strategy to guarantee zero incident in tomorrow's will be the official opening of the 30th SEA Games at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
Banac said as of November 29, a total of 2,751 delegates with 2,578 SEA Games participants and 173 other foreign delegates have arrived to the country with no untoward incident were monitored so far. Ella Dionisio/DMS
