MMDA serves closure orders to nine bus terminals along EDSA
August 17, 2017
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) served closure orders against nine bus terminals along EDSA in Quezon City for violating the "nose-in, nose out" policy and other offenses.
Ordered closed were terminals of ES Transport Inc., Lucena Lines Inc., Amihan Bus Lines Inc., First North Luzon Transit Inc., Golden Bee Transport & Logistics Corp., Jac Liner Inc., Pangasinan Five Star
Bus Co./Luzon Cisco Transport Inc., Philtranco Service Enterprises Inc., and Del Monte Land Transport Bus Co.
MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim led the closure of the terminal located along northbound and southbound lanes of EDSA in Barangays E Rodriguez, Pinagkaisahan, San Martin De Porres and Pinyahan.
"They were already informed of their deficiencies in the past but they did not make corrections," Lim told reporters.
Employees of First North resumed operations after an hour but Lim impounded more than 10 buses at the terminal.
Under the nose-in, nose-out policy, bus drivers should maneuver within the terminal to prevent traffic buildup along EDSA.
Operators of the terminals allegedly have employees without occupational permits. The terminal with the highest number is Amihan where 100 employees don't have permits. Lim said the affected buses can transfer to other terminals. DMS
