Mocha Uson named OWWA deputy administrator
September 30, 2019
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a government post former Communications Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux "Mocha" Uson once more.
A list of presidential appointees, which Malacanang released on Monday, showed Uson was named as Deputy Executive Director V or equivalent to Deputy Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) under the Department of Labor and Employment.
She was appointed on September 23.
Uson's appointment came after four months since her party-list group AA Kasosyo failed to win a seat during the last May elections. She was the first nominee of the group.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, in a text message to reporters, said Uson was not covered by the one-year election ban from holding public office.
"Per Comelec (Commission on Elections) Resolution, party-list nominees are not covered by the one-year ban," he said.
Uson is a staunch supporter of Duterte. Celerina Monte/DMS
