More cops with COVID-19 are asymptomatic: Gamboa
July 2, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said as the number of cops infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) increases, most of their cases are asymptomatic.
In a press briefing in Laguna, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said they have more than 700 COVID-19 cases.
“Only 13 to 15 are symptomatic so almost everyone is asymptomatic,” Gamboa said.
“We are very thankful for that maybe because basically cops have strong (immune system) that’s why almost all infection is all asymptomatic,” he added.
Gamboa said almost 200 cases came from Cebu, including the latest four fatalities.
“That's why we are rushing our preparations for the establishment of RT-PCR in Cebu to fast track the testing though they have very efficient testing there on the part of the PNP,” he reiterated.
Based on their record, they have 754 cops infected by COVID-19 were 357 of them recovered while nine died.
They also have 1, 163 suspected cases and 677 probable cases. Ella Dionisio/DMS
