Mulanay mayor bodyguard killed

A bodyguard of Mayor Joselito Ojeda of Mulanay, Quezon was killed in a shooting incident on Saturday morning.

Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, Police Regional Office 4-A director, identified the victim as Ruben Funtillar Subia, 60, a resident of Sitio Paitan Brgy Sta Rosa, Mulanay, Quezon.

In a text message to the Daily Manila Shimbun, Senior Supt. Osmundo Guzman, Quezon Police Director, said Subia was working as one of Ojeda's bodyguards.

Eleazar said based on initial report the victim was on his way home on board a motorcycle when he was attacked by still unidentified “motor riding criminal” along the national road in Brgy. Sta Rosa, Mulanay, Quezon at around 5:10 a.m.

“The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds on different parts of his body resulting to his instantaneous death,” he said.

Eleazar said after the shooting incident the suspect reportedly fled towards Catanuan municipality.

“Hot pursuit and drag net operation are being conducted by this municipal police station (for) possible identification and apprehension of the suspect,” he said.

Eleazar said police recovered 13 empty shells of Caliber 9MM from the crime scene. Robina Asido/DMS
