January 3, 2021

National Police Commission (Napolcom) vice chairman and executive officer Rogelio Casurao passed away on Saturday, according to the agency.

"We deeply mourn his passing and we will forever cherish his memories. We will honor him by continuing to fight the good fights that he fought to move NAPOLCOM forward most especially in this time of great sorrow and pandemic," Napolcom said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

However, it did not mention the cause of his death.

Born on Sept. 18, 1954, Casurao died at the age of 66.

Before he was appointed in 2016, Casurao was a councilor in Calbayog City, Samar and chaired the city’s People's Law Enforcement Board.

He also served as general legal counsel of the Philippine Councilors League and the vice president of Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Samar chapter.

In a statement, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Debold Sinas expressed his condolences to the family of Napolcom vice chairman.

“I extend the deepest sympathy of the PNP leadership to his bereaved family in this difficult time. Atty. Casurao has lived a full life in the service of his country and people,” Sinas said.

“The Philippine National Police has benefited immensely from his guiding wisdom and administrative supervision of the country's police force,” he added.

Sinas said Casurao’s legacy of fair and judicious application of administrative rules and policies over the PNP shall remain with the police institution through the years.

“It is our duty to give justice to his good work through honest and dedicated police service,” he said.

“May he find comfort and eternal peace in the kingdom of the Almighty Creator,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
