Napoles’ daughter left on July 27: Guevarra
August 3, 2018
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Friday said relatives of suspected pork barrel scam architect Janet Lim-Napoles who had been indicted for allegedly conspiring to commit money laundering amounting to $20 million in the United States, are still in the country, except for her daughter, Jeane Catherine.
Also indicted by the US Department of Justice for money laundering funds from anomalies involving pork barrel funds of lawmakers were her children Jo Christine and James Christopher, brother Reynald Lim and his wife Ana.
US prosecutors said the money was used to buy assets, including property and luxury vehicles.
Guevarra said the Bureau of Immigration has informed him that Jeane Catherine left July 27.
He said US authorities might also exert effort in locating Jeane Catherine.
“But considering that an indictment has already been made in US courts, the US government has ways of tracking down the defendants anywhere, including tapping the assistance of the Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization),” he said. DMS
