Navy deploys troops to man quarantine checkpoints in MECQ areas
August 5, 2020
The Philippine Navy redeployed its troops to man quarantine checkpoints in various location placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
"Upon the enactment of MECQ, the PN set out over teams to aid other law enforcement agencies in ensuring an orderly and strict reimplementation of quarantine guidelines to stem the transmission of COVID-19," Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, acting Navy public affairs director said.
"Although other quarantine measures were relaxed following the implementation of general community quarantine last June, the Navy's efforts against COVID-19 such as regular patrol of all sea entry points, and deployment of troops to man airports, swabbing facilities and other quarantine controlled-areas did not waver," she added.
Roxas said "with the reimplementation of a stricter community quarantine, the Philippine Navy with the help of its stakeholders will also double its efforts to help the national government combat this unprecedented global pandemic." Robina Asido/DMS
