Navy joins Langkawi drills

Langkawi, Malaysia–The Philippine Navy, represented by BRP Andres Bonifacio, joined the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition Sea Exercise Monday at the waters here, a statement by the Navy said.
This sea exercise was spearheaded by the Malaysian Navy Fleet Commander First Admiral Abu Bakar Bin MohdAjis onboard Malaysian warship KD Jebat.
The LSX is a major maritime training exercise conducted as part of Lima 2017 which aimed to strengthen multilateral relations and cooperation among participating navies in the region.
It was participated in by warships from the Philippines, Japan, Australia,United States, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Italy, and host Malaysia. There were a total of 28 naval warships who joined the exercise.
The events in the exercise included Screen Formations, Photo Exercise (PHOTEX), and Officer of the Watch maneuvers.
Highlight of the LSX was the Maritime Interdiction Operation which featured our PN personnel from the Naval Special Operations Group and the ship’s crew conducting the risky Visit, Board and Search, Seizure exercise onboard a designated target vessel.
The participation of the Philippine Navy in Lima 2017 and the LSX contributed to the enhancement of friendly relations and cooperation among ASEAN navies amidst security challenges. DMS
