November 7, 2017
After its mission in Marawi City, the Philippine Navy will send BRP Tarlac , its first strategic sealift vessel, in Thailand to join the first ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX) next week.
Capt. Lued Lincuna, Philippine Navy spokesman, said BRP Tarlac and BRP Gregorio Del Pilar with more or less 600 contingents will participate in the first AMNEX in Sattahip and Pattaya Bay in Thailand from November 13 to 22.
“AMNEX 2017 is the first-ever maritime security collaboration of navies in Southeast Asia region hosted by the Royal Thai Navy and conducted in conjunction with the commemoration of the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) along with International Fleet Review and the 11th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM),” he said.
BRP Tarlac was deployed to support the operation against terrorists in southern Philippines, especially in Marawi City for almost five months. It arrived in Manila last week.
It can be recalled that BRP Tarlac with other Philippine Navy vessels were deployed to transport military personnel, vehicles and supplies to support the operation in the city. Robina Asido/DMS
