NBI tracking person who posted fake P1,000 bill with Duterte’s misspelled middle name – BSP
October 4, 2020
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has asked the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look for the person who released a photo of a fake one thousand peso bill with misspelled middle name of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“We already asked the NBI but I don’t know if they already found the person,” said central bank Governor Benjamin Diokno in a radio interview on Sunday.
Diokno reiterated that the bill with misspelled Rodrigo “Boa” Duterte was fake.
The President’s correct middle name is “Roa”.
The photo of the fake one thousand peso bill already went viral on social media last September. However, the original post was already deleted.
In an earlier statement, BSP said that based on its verification, the bill was not a legal tender.
“The serial number shown in the said banknote does not match any of the ones issued by the BSP for the 1000-Piso Enhanced New Generation Currency banknote,” it said.
BSP vowed to continue to work with its stakeholders including the media in disseminating the correct information on the Philippine currency and in protecting the integrity of banknotes and coins. Ella Dionisio/DMS
