NCRPO checking if Marikina drug haul linked to P2.6 billion seized last month
December 10, 2019
The National Capital Region Police Office ( NCRPO) on Tuesday said they are checking if the P7.4 million worth of seized illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Marikina is linked with a P2.5 billion haul seized from a Chinese.
“We suspect this may be a part of the one confiscated in Makati City. Our crime laboratory is now comparing the teabag… if they will say it is the same then the drugs is really circulating here, it is already distributed,” said Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, the acting NCRPO director, in a press briefing.
On December 9, authorities confiscated around 1.150 kilograms of suspected illegal drugs from two drug suspects along Libis St., Baranagay Concepcion Uno in Marikina City.
Sinas said the target of the operation is Jomalyn Poblete who was also arrested in the same operation with a certain Christian Lucero.
“Her previous live-in partner is now detained (and) based on our finding, her first partner is the one who keeps the illegal drugs that’s why she know who is the source,” he said.
Sinas added that other small-time drug suspects they arrested prior to the operation pointed her as the source of their illegal drugs.
“She has yet to identify who is her source… It only took less than a month to follow up (the case),” he said.
The buy-bust operation Sinas mentioned was done by the Philippine National Police- Drug Enforcement Group last November in Makati and Las Pinas City where they were able to confiscate around P2.6 billion from a Chinese suspect and two couriers. Ella Dionisio/DMS
