The chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and other high-ranking officers tested negative for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement on Saturday, NCRPO said the regional director and police officers underwent nasopharyngeal swab test last May 6 at Marikina Molecular Laboratory to ensure that they are fit and healthy while inspecting Quarantine Control Points (QCP) in Metro Manila.

Aside from Police Major General Debold Sinas, Police Brigadier General Florendo Quibuyen, the Deputy Regional Director for Operations; PBGen Florencio Ortilla, Chief Regional Staff; PBGen Ronaldo Genaro, District Director of Northern Police District; PBGen Johnson Almazan, District Director of Eastern Police District; PBGen Ronnie Montejo, District Director of Quezon City Police District; together with five Regional Staff, Force Commander, RMFB and other NCRPO key officers were tested negative for COVID-19.

"As NCRPO Senior Officers, we are constantly checking the deployment of our frontliners. It is but necessary for us to ensure that we are not carriers of COVID-19 to our men, our families and the public. Aside from this, we are also currently conducting target group testing to the frontliners of NCRPO,” Sinas said.

Other District Directors and Senior Officers also underwent nasopharyngeal swab tests and are awaiting the results.

“Immediate isolation, medical interventions and contact tracing are being done to those personnel who tested positive to the virus,” Sinas said.

“Nevertheless, we have adequate vitamin supplies being distributed to them in addition to the psychosocial support services to ensure that their body and mind are healthy and strong," he added.

According to NCRPO last Friday, 47 of their police personnel already tested positive for COVID-19. Ella Dionisio/DMS
