NCRPO orders districts to monitor areas after Jolo blasts
August 25, 2020
The chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday said they ordered their four districts to monitor their areas following the twin blasts in Jolo where at least 16 were killed on Monday.
In a press briefing, Police Major General Debold Sinas, NCRPO chief, said they were alarmed by the number of casualties.
“We have alerted our people and to monitor their area if someone from Jolo went here (in Manila). We have directed our intel community to coordinate with their counterparts,” Sinas said.
Though they will not increase their alert status, Sinas said they will intensify their intelligence operations.
Sinas said a unit from the Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD) with two K9 dogs are going around per city to check on establishments and areas of convergence.
“Hopefully this will prevent any bombs planted in their area. With this, we are preparing ourselves, there is no 100 percent proof that no one (from Mindanao) entered NCR,” he said.
“That’s why we are also asking the help of people that if they detect an unattended baggage, please report to the nearest police station,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
