New COVID-19 cases at 1,594; total at 72, 269

There were 1,594 new coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) cases, with 60 percent of from the National Capital Region, the Department of Health ( DOH) said Wednesday.

Cases from the NCR reached 971,followed by Cebu's 252 and Zamboanga del Sur, with 53.

Total number of COVID-19 cases are now at 72,269.

Six deaths were reported, bringing the total to 1,843 fatalities.

There were 342 patients who recovered from COVID-19, raising total recoveries to 23, 623. DMS
