New COVID-19 cases reach 1,678

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 1,678 new coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) cases.

Total cases are now at 83,673, of which 55, 109 were active cases.

Of the new cases, majority came from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 698 but Laguna, with 218 displaced Cebu, which reported only 100 cases.

Four deaths-- two each from NCR and Central Visayas--were recorded, bringing the total to  1,947 fatalities .

There were 173 patients who recovered from COVID-19, placing the total to 26, 617. DMS
