New COVID-19 cases set record high for second day

The Department of Health (DOH) said Friday new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases set a record high.
The DOH reported 4,063 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, surpassing Thursday's 3,594. Majority of the new cases are from National Capital Region with 2,267 followed by Cebu's 654 and Laguna's 200.
Total number of new cases are now at 93, 354, of which 26, 153 are active. Mild cases reached 87.8 percent, asymptomatic, 10 percent; severe 1.3 percent and critical 0.9 percent.
There were 40 deaths from COVID-19, bringing the total to 2,023 fatalities.
The new deaths were from NCR (13), Central Visayas (12), Central Luzon (7), Calabarzon (2) Western Visayas (2, Davao Region (2 ) Mimaropa (1) and Zamboanga Peninsula (1).
Of the 40 deaths, 27 happened in July, 2 in June, 2 in May, 7 in April, and 2 in March.
The DOH said 165 persons overcame COVID-19, with total recoveries at 65,178. DMS
