New COVID-19 cases surge past 2,000 for the second day

The number of new coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) cases remained high on Monday as 2,099 new cases were reported by the Department of Health ( DOH).
This was the second day where new cases were above 2,000 after a new daily high of 2,434 was set on Sunday.
Total COVID-19 cases are now at 46,333. Fresh cases, or test results which came out in the last three days, reached 1,258.
The National Capital Region accounted for the bulk of the fresh cases with 601 followed by other regions, with 329; Central Visayas with 280 and repatriates, 48.
Late cases, or those whose results came out four days ago or more, reached 841. National Capitol Region had the bulk of these cases with 397 followed by other regions with 329, Central Visayas, 280 and repatriates, 46.
Six patients had died, raising total deaths to 1,303.
Two hundred and forty three patients survived COVID-19, placing total recoveries at 12,185. DMS
