New COVID-19 cases surge to new record of 2,539; total now 50, 359

New Philippine coronavirus (COVID-19) cases surged to a record daily high on Wednesday, with more than half coming from the National Capitol Region.
There were 2,539 new cases, bringing total cases to 50,359, the Department of Health (DOH) said. Active cases are 36,547.
Three of the last four days have been new COVID-19 cases top 2,000.
Among fresh cases of 1,922, those from NCR accounted for 883 followed by other regionsCeu with 670 and Central Visayas with 369.
On late cases of 617, other regions drew 360 followed by 83 from NCR and 74 in Central Visayas.
As of June 7, the DOH said among cities with new cases in 14 days were Cebu City with 5,701; Quezon City, 3,807; Manila, 2,730; Cebu Province, 1,650 and Caloocan City, 1,250.
There were 202 patients who recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total to 12,5688. Five deaths were recorded, placing the aggregate at 1,314. DMS
