A total of 778 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the tally to 33,069, the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday.
Among the new cases, the DOH said there were 415 fresh cases, with the National Capitol Region accounting for 250.
Late cases were 363, with 202 cases coming from the NCR.
There were eight deaths, raising the total to 1,212.
Recoveries were 255, pushing the overall tally to 8,910 patients who have survived COVID-19.
This means that there are now a total of 8,910 COVID-19 patients that have survived the illness.
The DOH, meanwhile, discouraged the public from practicing steam inhalation, saying it may pose more risks of COVID-19 transmission to the public.
Speaking at a televised press briefing, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said: "Steam inhalation does not kill COVID-19 virus and is not among the measures being recommended to prevent it."
"There is no existing scientific study that can prove steam inhalation's efficacy to cure COVID-19," she added.
Earlier, the Cebu provincial government has encouraged its employees to practice steam inhalation as a way to fight COVID-19. DMS
