New COVID-19 cases surpass 8,000

Nearly 45 days since the Philippines imposed an enhanced community quarantine to curb the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the number of cases surpassed the 8,000 mark.
In a report by the Department of Health on Wednesday, there were 264 new cases, bringing the total to 8,212.
Recoveries breached the 1,000 mark with 48 patients bouncing back from COVID-19. Deaths amounted to 558, with 28 fatalities. DMS
