June 1, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said there are no more severe cases among their cops who were tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
During the flag ceremony in Camp Crame, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said out of the 315 total confirmed cases they have, all active 247 cases are under home quarantine or are in quarantine facilities for mild to moderate cases.
“I am glad to announce that as of 6:00 am of Sunday, there are no more severe cases PNP COVID patients admitted in hospitals,” Gamboa said.
Based on their data, he said they have a 51.9 percent recovery rate where 163 of total cases recovered while still no deaths reported since April.
“Among the 163 recovered cases, 109 or 67 percent are yet to complete the required quarantine period while 54 cases or 33 percent have been declared as completely recovered,” the PNP chief added.
Gamboa reiterated that their risk of contracting COVID 19 was inevitable due to their mandate to secure checkpoints.
He said as of May 31, out of the 205,000 PNP personnel population, 1,688 were identified COVID cases broken down as 677 suspects, 696 probable and 315 confirmed cases.
“Evaluating the situation at hand the PNP leadership ensures that COVID 19 rapid testing and swabbing are in place to ensure that infected personnel are immediately isolated to undergo the recovery process,” Gamboa said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
