NPA killed in Camarines Norte encounter

An alleged member of the communist New People’s Army was killed in an encounter with government troops in Basud town, Camarines Norte Sunday morning.
Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol Region spokesperson, said government troopers encountered around 15 rebels at Purok 1 Brgy. Tuaca in Basud town at about 6am.
The firefight lasted for almost five minutes which resulted to the death of one unidentified suspect armed with caliber 45, carbine, and a hand grenade.
Calubaquib said there was no reported casualty from the government side.
Basud Municipal Police Station was already directed to conduct follow-up investigation to check the identity of the suspect and advised to conduct checkpoint/chokepoint operation and preventive patrol to monitor possible movement of the fleeing rebels.
