Office under Presidential Communications Operations abolished
May 31, 2017
An office under the Presidential Communications Operations Office has been abolished and its 20 staff have been reassigned to other offices, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said on Wednesday. Under Office Order No. 26, Andanar said the Strategic Communications Office was abolished effective immediately. "The main reasons are to streamline and to adjust to our new comprehensive communications strategy in promoting the policies of the different executive departments," Andanar said in a statement. He said recent communications programs under his office, the DuterteNomics, Real Numbers, Extremism and Martial Law and other coming events have increased the demand for the PCOO ream to assist other departments. "Thus, the need to restructure our manpower assignments," he said. But he denied reports 40 people were dismissed due to the abolition of the office. "The news that 40 people were fired is very inaccurate. I did not fire anyone," Andanar said. (Celerina Monte/DMS)
