An overseas Filipino worker undergoing a 14-day quarantine was found dead at a hotel in Pasay City on Sunday morning.
According to Southern Police District (SPD), a fellow OFW discovered the victim hanging at the stairs of the hotel at around 6am.
“A fabric scarf was looped around the neck of victim and its end portion was tied from the wooden stairway step. A plastic bench chair was found near the body, which victim probably used to scale in order to reach and tie the scarf from the stairway,” the police report said.
Upon discovery, the witnesses immediately informed the staff of the lodge who called for police assistance.
Based on the witnesses’ statement, they were all repatriated OFW from Kuwait and were brought to the hotel last April 4 for their quarantine.
“According to them, when the victim was still alive, she revealed to them that she attempted to commit suicide in Kuwait but she did not elaborate the whole story,” SPD said.
The victim was last seen alive at around 4am on the same day but the witnesses reportedly noticed that she was sad and feeling anxious.
Her cadaver was moved to a funeral homes for safekeeping and autopsy while the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now in contact with her family. Ella Dionisio/DMS
