Olympics minister stresses efforts on hotel accessibility
May 23, 2019
Tokyo--Shunichi Suzuki, minister for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, highlighted Thursday Japan's actions toward making accommodation facilities accessible for people with disabilities.
The government wants to plant a culture of inclusivity firmly in Japan, Suzuki said in a meeting with Andrew Parsons, president of the International Paralympic Committee, at the Cabinet Office.
Previously, the IPC has expressed concern over the limited availability of hotel rooms that can accommodate wheelchair users and other people with disabilities.
Parsons told the minister that he believes the Olympics and Paralympics can be an opportunity for Japanese society to change. Jiji Press
