June 10, 2020

Authorities confiscated P2.04 million worth of illegal drugs inside the maximum security premises of the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City last Monday.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said an NBP personnel was conducting foot patrol around 6:13 pm when he saw two persons at the vicinity of Power House Post Tower 2, Gola 3 Bomba, NBP Compound in the act of throwing an object inside the maximum security premises of NBP.

Initial report said the patrolling officer approached the two but they tried to escape prompting the officer to pursue them.

The officer was able to arrest one of the suspects and he found the object thrown by the suspects inside the NBP premises were plastic bags containing shabu.

Also recovered from the suspect were three pieces of ice plastic bags and two pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing around 300 grams with an estimated value of P2,040,000.

On Tuesday, joint operatives from SPD, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized P1,700,000 worth of illegal drugs from five suspects who were arrested at the parking lot of Sunshine Mall in Western Bicutan, Taguig City.

The operation stemmed from an in-depth intelligence information gathering and month-long surveillance, monitoring and investigation of the suspect's modus operandi.

Initial report disclosed that one of the schemes used by the suspects to elude and pass check points was to place the illegal drugs inside containers or sacks of rice.

All the arrested suspects are in police custody and cases for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them. Ella Dionisio/DMS
