Padilla takes oath as newest SC justice

Newly-appointed Supreme Court Associate Justice Priscilla J. Baltazar Padilla on Friday took her oath of office before Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta.
Padilla took the post vacated by Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr. who retired last May 11.
President Rodrigo Duterte tapped Padilla as the 15th magistrate of the High Tribunal Thursday.
Padilla started her judicial career in 1996 as Metropolitan Trial Court judge in Manila and later as a Regional Trial Court judge. She was appointed Court of Appeals associate justice in 2006.
Padilla, who graduated at the Lyceum of the Philippines, placed fifth in the 1984 bar examinations with 90.3 per cent.
The lady magistrate is a professor at the New Era University and the Universidad de Manila. She is also a pre-bar reviewer on Persons and Family Relations, Obligations and Contracts, and Remedial Law subjects.
